Conwy Brewery started in November 2003 because there were no full time commercial breweries in this area of North Wales while other areas of the UK had a thriving local brewery scene. The brewery began in a small industrial unit of just 600 square feet brewing small batches of real ale for pubs in the immediate local area. The first brew to come off was Celebration Ale (the hoppiest ale we do and still brewed today) followed by Castle Bitter (a very traditional 3.8% Welsh Malty bitter, now replaced by the more hoppy Welsh Pride). Long working days and weekends followed while still trying to run a brewery, work at the day job & help bring up a new family with my long suffering wife Adele. Sanity eventually followed when the day job was given up in 2005 & full time brewing commenced. Other brews followed including our best selling Welsh Pride which sells especially well over the six nations rugby & our flagship ale Honey Fayre recognised across North Wales and further afield after gaining numerous awards. Our brewery continues to grow after moving premises in 2007 to further develop our bottled beer business. In 2008 Honey Fayre was listed with J D Wetherspoon nationwide & a special own label version of Honey Fayre went into M&S.
