Product Description
Wooden Hand Brewery is a brewery based in Truro Cornwall that brews exceptional cask ales .The name Wooden Hand comes from the "Black Hand " of John Carew of Penwarne, who was the second son of Richard Carew, a wealthy Cornish landowner,MP,Poet and antiquarian, John lost his hand in savage fighting at the great siege of Ostend at the beginning of the 17th century. It has been recorded that Care retrieved the severed hand, returned to to his quarters, held out the shattered limb in his left hand and said "there is the hand that cut the pudding in the morning" The original Wooden Hand made to replace the original is startlingly life-like with articulated fingers and brass joints. The hand is now in the proud possession of one of the owners of the Wooden Hand Brewery, John Willis, and is proudly replicated as part of the brewery's logo. It is in the tradition of Cornish heroism and derring-do that Wooden Hand's ales are brewed.
