Product Description
One day, sat in his humble bar, the owner of a pub decided it would be a good idea to brew his own beer. What could be more perfect an idea than having beer that was made in the building on the bar of a pub? And so it became. Vessels and pipes and pumps and all kinds of stuff were borrowed, stolen, scrounged, reclaimed and if absolutely necessary, bought. Eventually, after a short duration of time, a brewery was assembled and beer was brewed. The licensee-brewer tasted the beer and found it to be good. He sold it over the bar and people seemed to buy it. All was well for a while as beer was brewed and beer was sold and beer was drunk and drunks were made.
The licensee-brewer sought greater things; he ventured out to places afar. He stumbled on beers from countries world-wide - twould seem that there was more to beer than just ale. Dubbel and Lambic, Imperial pale ale and stouts, many manner of beers, much more than he thought. Before very long this licensee became more brewer than landlord and it became time to leave the pub to develop the brewery.
And so it has become, in a shed, all be it a very large 2400sq ft shed, which as sheds go is really very large indeed, Hardknott has become an organic, unstoppable beast that must vent forth its hop & malt soup on the unwary world at large.
Flavour is the name of the game, beer that has some flavour, that's what it is about. Hardknott, and it's hard not to find flavour in a Hardknott beer. Nothing bland and insipid, always striving to be better and more interesting, always looking to go that extra mile to produce a beer that will impress, astound, and perhaps shock the unaware.
