Our first experience within the industry began back in 1982 with the purchase of The Rising Sun at Frampton Cotterell. Over the years the pub developed into a renowned haven for real ale drinkers. This resulted in being awarded CAMRA PUB OF THE YEAR 1995. With the addition of a conservatory in 2001, evening meals were introduced. January 2007 Great Western Brewing Company Ltd was established. In April 2007 Kevin and Sandra purchased The Old Bakery in the village of Hambrook, near Bristol. The property, an historic old bake house, dates back to the 1700’s with it's own resident ghost!!

Restoration work commenced in June 2007 and the property has been transformed into a showpiece brewery with many of its original features restored, The brewery has been built from a selection of vessels acquired from various parts of the country. These were modified to our specific requirements, resulting in a traditional bespoke 10 barrel brew plant.

Brewing commenced on 1st march 2008 with the creation of our first two flagship beers named Maiden Voyage and Classic Gold.
