Product Description
...using only malted barley, wheat, oats, hops, water and yeast. Organic because all the grain and hops are organically grown and certified. Bottle conditioned because it is unfiltered with yeast left in to ensure maximum flavour. It is suitable for vegans.
In the cask, it is the same beer, except we do use finings, as is usual with cask beer, to ensure that it can be served clear.
It is also unusual because it is a soft water stout -- as we use no water treatment, the soft Lakeland water has not been hardened or "Burtonised."
Hawkshead Brewery is licensed by the Soil Association to make and market organic beer.
Hawkshead Brewery has been brewing traditional beer styles with a modern twist, in the heart of the English Lake District, since 2002.
Having outgrown the original barn just outside the village of Hawkshead, we now have a purpose built brewery beside the River Kent, in Staveley, at the foot of the Kentmere Valley.
Visitors can watch the brewery at work from The Beer Hall, which looks down into the Brew House, while sampling our beers.
The Beer Hall is a showcase for real ale. It is brewery tap, beer shop, visitors’ centre and function room. It has a Cask Marque award for serving “the perfect pint” and is in The Good Beer Guide.
Hawkshead Brewery is an active member of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) and is proud to be a small part of the modern revolution in the British brewing industry, the aim of which is the permanent revival of the British national drink – beer.
