Product Description
...The flavour is subtle yet tasty, fruity, hints of sweetness with a well rounded bready characteristic all finished off by a slightly bitter and moreish finish. Hat’s off to Stu , this is really a tasty beer, it could possibly do with a little more carbonation but it is perfect for sitting in the garden with some spiced BBQ pork on a warm spring evening" (tasting notes by Andy from beerreviews.co.uk)
In 2006 Andrew and Helen Walker bought The Hillsborough Hotel & Crown Brewery. They extended the opening hours (which are now Midday – 11pm 7 days a week) and introduced a permanent day time food menu. Brewing did not commence until July 2007 when Stuart Ross was employed; his experience at both Acorn Brewery and Kelham Island Brewery brought consistency to the original range of beers. New recipes were added and the first brew of Traditional Bitter 4% won Champion beer at Sheffield Beer festival in October 2007, along with Stannington Stout coming top of its category. These beers are permanently available in cask along with HPA 3.9% and Samuel Berry’s Pale Ale. Some of our permanent range is available bottle conditioned, as well as beers brewed especially for bottling such as Wheat Stout 6.6%, Ring of Fire 7.7%%, Unpronounceable IPA 7% and India Pale Ale 7.2% with more new and interesting beers on their way.
